TRiO Destination College

TRiO Destination College identifies and assists junior high and high school students who meet eligibility criteria and have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to complete their post-secondary education. TRiO Destination College staff members work collaboratively with partner schools, parents, teachers, counselors, and community outreach organizations.

Services

In addition to providing personalized assistance and one-on-one attention to students, TRiO Destination College provides an array of services including:

  • Tutoring/connections to tutoring
  • Help improving study skills/learning styles
  • College visits and trips
  • Career and college exploration
  • Help finding funding for college
  • Summer camps
  • ACT and SAT prep courses
  • Individual and family assistance in completing college, scholarship and financial aid application
  • Monthly club meetings at school during the school day
  • Annual award ceremony
  • Acknowledgement of honor roll students
  • New experiences and fun activities

Eligibility Criteria

Most generally, any student who has barriers to education is eligible for participate in TRiO Destination College. These barriers can include but are not limited to: low-income, potential first-generation college student, and/or academic, family, or social issues.

  • Complete and return the completed application to your school counselor, main office or mail it to TRiO Destination College, 5001 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon, IL  61938.
