Looking for high school senior STEM students!!

Lake Land College has received an ICCB Innovative Bridge and Transition grant to increase STEM majors at LLC and in our district.  LLC is introducing the Recruitment and Advancement of the Next Generation of Engineers (RANGE program).  The RANGE program will consist of 30 selected STEM students and will be focused on wrap-around supports to ensure these students are successful. 

RANGE students will be provided the following:

  • A cohort community Same (or similar) schedule
    Small class sizes
    Close-knit feel
  • Summer 2025 RANGE orientation
    Schedule building
    Transfer goals
  • Summer 2025 free bridge course for skill alignment
  • Weekly RANGE meeting with cohort group and RANGE faculty leads that may include:
    Alumni speakers
    Transfer college information
    LLC counselors
    Local internship information
    Engineering professional speakers
    Student well-being check in
  • Tutoring sessions: Up to 6 hours of free tutoring with a second year engineering student mentor(s)
  • Personalized advising: Individualized meetings with faculty advisor to discuss transfer options
  • Internship opportunities from:
    Local businesses
    Lake Land College
  • Remediation opportunities if necessary
  • $1000 scholarship for participation in the RANGE program*
    *Commensurate with funding for IBT Grant from ICCB

We are currently looking for students that are planning to major in engineering, other STEM majors or undecided students that would be successful in STEM majors.  The Fall 2025 RANGE cohort has 30 positions available. 

RANGE students will have the following:

Graduating senior Spring 2025
Interested in engineering or STEM field
Completion of Algebra II or similar course with B or higher
Completion of Trigonometry or similar course with B or higher
 
Note: If these requirements are not met, a remediation course will be required online Summer 2025
