Completed and dedicated in Spring 2008, the Lake Land College Fitness Center is equipped with state-of-the-art PRECOR cardio equipment, Life Fitness circuit training equipment, a free-weight area furnished with PRECOR, Life Fitness, and Rogue weights, and an aerobics room furnished with mirrors, a television, and built-in sound system. The Fitness Center was also a part of the Lake Land College geothermal campus project that makes Lake Land College a more energy-efficient and nature-friendly academic institution.
The Fitness Center is available for current Lake Land College students and employees as well as retirees to use on a walk-in basis or for a credit class (PED 209 & 210).
The Fitness Center staff has the authority to dismiss a person if they are not pursuing a workout according to the rules and regulations. The Fitness Center is under 24 hour surveillance.
Storage space for personal belongings is available in the Fitness Center. Each person is responsible for any belongings left there.
Locker rooms are also available to store belongings and change clothes. Each person must provide his or her own lock and empty the locker at the end of the spring semester. During the summer term, all lockers are cleaned and sanitized. Any remaining items and locks will be disposed of at that time. Locker rooms and shower facilities are also available during the summer term to store belongings.
PED 209 and 210 students must sign-up for a mandatory orientation which will last approximately 1/2 hour. Students who have previously gone through orientation should tell the staff and may begin.
Students should contact the instructor to schedule an appointment within the first week of signing up for the class to avoid being dropped from the course. Students must work out on a regular basis and be actively pursuing the course to avoid being withdrawn from the course. Students who have not logged any minutes the first week of the class will be dropped from the course.
Students should have half of their minutes completed by mid-term and will have until the last class day of the semester to complete their minutes. There are no make-up days due to inclement weather should the college be closed. There are no incompletes given for these courses. Students who are unable to attain the desired number of minutes or grade should follow the proper procedures to drop the course.
Students may work out twice a day. Each workout must be minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 120 minutes. All workouts must take place in the Fitness Center; workouts from other facilities will not count. Students taking more than one credit must complete one class at a time.
Students who log in and leave the Fitness Center without logging out will have their workouts deleted by the staff. Students may not log in under different names. Such behavior can and will result in removal from the course and/or citations of academic integrity violations.
