Advisor Responsibilities

• Connect with advisees each semester.
• Inform advisees how to schedule an advising appointment.
• Assist advisees with interpreting their degree audit and test scores.
• In collaboration with the student, create an academic plan through graduation.
• Provide advisement and clearance to register each semester.
• Educate advisees about transfer and career resources.
• Commit to continuing education. Stay up to date with advising changes and technology (Navigate).

Student Responsibilities in Advising

• Connect with your assigned academic advisor each semester for mandatory course approval and clearance to register.
• Take personal responsibility for your education.
• Check your Laker email and opt-in for text messages for official college business and announcements.
• Create and update your academic plan in Navigate .
• Monitor important dates in the HUB.
• Know your resources!
• Understand the academic standards and policies of Lake Land College.
• Consider joining a club or organization to gain valuable leadership experience.
• Learn about resources for transfer and career readiness.
• Prepare for next steps after Lake Land College. Visit Career Services for resume writing, mock interviews and more.
