Follow these tips to get the most out of a job fair:

• Is this the fair for you? Find out ahead of time what employers will be in attendance and the positions they are hiring for.
• Dress appropriately! You need to look the part. Dress like you are going to a job interview and be conservative.
• Take several copies of your resume and transcripts. Also take supporting documents to show your skills and talents.
• Create a game plan. Decide who you want to talk to and plan out your strategy. Warm up by talking to a few companies before making your way to your favorites.
• Employers will be evaluating you – so be professional. Keep in mind, though, that you are also evaluating employers. Size them up and decide if it is an organization you would want to work for.
• Take notes. It is important to get names of contacts correct and make notes of what was discussed. A well-written cover or follow-up letter will include that information.
