Gym - Back day is the best day.
Cycling - Being in the open air is envigorating.
Music - Most everything from Disturbed to Vangelis with some nostalgia for most 80's music. The Beatles are overrated. (Don't tell Matt Landrus!)
Reading - Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment is my favorite.
Philosophy - There is more to this life than meets the eye.
Vehicles - Big fan of well designed devices of transport.
Thought - The sciences need the humanites and vice versa.

Sometimes the greatest things in life seem to happen by pure chance or providence if you will. For me, teaching was a second career. While finishing my graduate work at EIU and running the bike shop in Charleston, I received a call from Division Chair and my former professor, Dr. Terry Perkins. He asked me if I was interested in teaching a section of the basic speech course. After some cursory training with other graduate students I found myself in front of a class and immediately knew I belonged there. Twenty-two years later my examples and hair color have changed, but my passion for teaching remains.
