Learn how to become an asset in any office with the Accounting progam. This program will prepare you for entry-level positions in the accounting field. Employment opportunities exist in small businesses, large businesses, public accounting firms, industry, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. You can also choose from a two-year degree or a one-year certificate. All courses in the Accounting certificate program count toward the associate degree. You will complete courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, tax accounting and cost accounting. You will receive hands-on training in Microsoft Office, computerized accounting and tax preparation software. You can also complete general business courses such as Business Communications, Principles of Management, Economics, Legal Environment of Business and Statistics.

You will have the opportunity to complete an internship as part of the two-year degree program. As an intern, you can complete 188 work hours in the accounting field to receive credit for the three-hour internship course.
The college has a 2+2 program with Eastern Illinois University that can lead to a bachelor’s degree in Organizational and Professional Development. Many of the courses in the Accounting degree count toward the Lake Land College associate in arts degree in Business which is a transfer program leading to a bachelor’s degree in accounting or another area of business.
