Grants

Grants are funds available to help pay for educational expenses which do not need to be repaid. There are federal and state grants available, and eligibility is based on financial need.

Grants Available

There are several types of grants available to Lake Land College students. They include:

  • Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is the largest source of financial assistance for Lake Land College students. The grants range from $740 to $7,395 for the 2024-2025 academic year depending on financial need and hours of enrollment.
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOG is a campus-based award program designed to supplement Pell Grant funds for students with the greatest financial need. Grants are up to $400 and priority is given to those students who apply by May 1.
  • Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant
MAP is awarded by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to residents of Illinois. Students automatically apply for the MAP grant by submitting the FAFSA. MAP can only be used to pay tuition and certain fees. MAP grants are contingent on state funding, so it is very important to apply for financial aid early.
  • PATH Grant
The PATH Grant was created to address the shortage of workers in the healthcare industry that was exasperated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This grant creates, supports and expands, the opportunities of individuals in nursing and other select healthcare pathways by giving individuals the opportunity to earn credentials and degrees to enter or advance in their careers in the healthcare industry.
