The financial aid process can be overwhelming and confusing at times, so we present this information geared towards parents and families to help you make college more affordable and make important decisions about your financial future.
New students with no previous college coursework beyond high school who plan to seek a degree or certificate of 24 or more credit hours will participate in New Student Orientation. After completing the Application/Intent to Enroll, new students can expect to receive information about orientation and placement testing beginning in March for summer and/or fall enrollment and October for spring enrollment.
Counseling Services helps current and potential students achieve their goals. Counseling Services provides a variety of resources including new student orientation, academic advising and assistance with registration, transfer agreements and guides for four-year institutions, accommodations for students with disabilities, referrals to crisis and community resources, and early intervention for students who are struggling in and out of the classroom.
Career Services provides a variety of services to support and prepare students to reach their educational and professional goals. Career Services specializes in helping students connect to a career, establish a portfolio, build transferable skills, create networking opportunities, enhance communication skills and develop job search materials.
The Lake Land College Honors Experience offers students an opportunity to seek academic challenges and opportunities to make a difference in the world. Honors Experience students can be involved in honors coursework, develop leadership skills, and participate in service projects that help others.
Lake Land College is committed to providing a quality educational experience to all students. As such, the College provides accommodations for students who have a documented disability to help them achieve their full potential. Student Accommodations are coordinated by the Counselor/Coordinator of Student Accommodations within Counseling Services, located in the Luther Student Center.
TRiO Student Support Services is a program with the sole purpose of helping students in need succeed at Lake Land College. TRiO is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to help students complete their academic goals and graduate from Lake Land College. TRiO counselors and advisors work with each student individually, providing and connecting students with a wide variety of support services, events, and activities. TRiO provides one-on-one meetings with staff, informative workshops, and access to educational, social and cultural opportunities available only to TRiO participants. All of TRiO services are free to eligible students.
The Tutoring and Testing Center offers tutoring in specific subjects. Students may arrange a one-time session or regular ongoing appointments based on their needs. Tutoring is free to all students, made possible by college funding and grants, and is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and later by appointment.
Lake Land College believes in supporting the success of our students on both a personal and academic level, and we know this all starts with their mental health and wellness. The college now has an on-site, full time mental health provider and has also partnered with TimelyMD, an online service providing free mental health counseling to current students.

Health Services is available to all students free of charge. The college nurse can discuss and answer any questions in regards to physical disorders or health-related circumstances and provides emergency first aid treatment as well as various medical services.
With support from the Lake Land College Foundation and its partnership with the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Lake Land College is working to end food insecurity and hunger among our students and their families by providing the Laker Food Pantry to its students.
Lake Land College is one of the safest campuses in the state of Illinois and United States. The campus is monitored 24 hours a day by a campus police department. The Police Department receives all reports of criminal activity occurring on campus. The department is responsible for the reporting and investigation of crimes, traffic accidents and all other matters related to the security of the campus.
Lake Land College’s Police Department provides a full range of law enforcement services to assist in providing students, faculty and staff with a safe and secure environment. The Police Department provides many services for the Lake Land College community including crime awareness programs, escorts, assistance with motorist emergencies, correction of safety hazards, and processing of lost and found items. Lake Land College police officers are also trained in crisis management, first aid and CPR, hazardous materials, severe weather and law enforcement response. The College has also made significant investments in technology and emergency notification systems to ensure each individual’s safety while on the grounds of Lake Land College.
At Lake Land College, students have the numerous opportunities to get involved with Student Life and create their own college experience, unique to their personalities. We offer more than 30 student clubs, leadership workshops, volunteer opportunities, intramural sports, community choir, ambassador, government and newspaper organizations to become a part of. Student Activity Board (SAB) also hosts free weekly student events every Wednesday.
The Lake Land College Fitness Center is available to all current Lake Land College students, employees, and retirees to use on a walk-in basis or for class credit. The Fitness Center is equipped with state-of-the-art PRECOR cardio equipment, NAUTILUS circuit training equipment, a free-weight area furnished with PRECOR, NAUTILUS, and TKO weights, and an aerobics room furnished with mirrors, a television, and built-in sound system.
Laker Athletics is home softball, baseball, volleyball, women’s basketball men’s basketball, and cheerleading. Laker athletes see success both on and off the court or field, with some of our teams making NJCAA National Tournament appearances on a regular basis, and many attaining a 3.0 GPA in the classroom. Scholarship opportunities are available to athletes as well.
Though there is no on-campus housing, student apartments are available within walking distance from campus through cooperation with a private company, Lake Land Living Apartments. Other housing options can be found on our Housing page.
