As a Lake Land College Nursing student, you can work toward a bachelor of science degree in nursing with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing. This partnership allows you to complete a bachelor of science degree in nursing by taking six additional courses from SIUE. You can also take your general education courses at Lake Land, savings hundreds in tuition and fees.
As a Lake Land graduate, you can sit for the NCLEX and start your professional career as an RN, without waiting to complete four years of school like traditional BSN programs. All SIUE courses are designed for working nurses, so you can take courses online while you work. Many places of employment offer tuition waivers, saving you even more on tuition.
RNs work in a variety of medical settings: hospitals, surgery/outpatient clinics, long-term care, home health, public health departments, schools, and physician offices. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to apply for the RN licensing exam (NCLEX-RN). The Application Deadline is February 1.**
For more information on the ADN program and additional bachelor’s degree completion partnerships, visit the program page.
You can also start your nursing career at the Lake Land College Kluthe Center in Effingham.
LPNs work in a variety of medical settings, long-term care, hospitals, clinics and physicians’ offices. The program is a one year certificate, with no pre-requisites or co-requisites (total 41 credit hours). Upon completion, graduates are eligible to apply for the PN licensing exam (NCLEX-PN). LPNs can bridge to the ADN program (requires a bridge course and one additional year of coursework).
Both ADN and PN are special admission programs. Applicants must submit an application to the college and a separate application to the program. This application and the application checklist can be found here.
**Admissions exam (offered first Friday of September, October, November, December) and pre-requisites must be completed prior to the application deadline. Application deadline: March 1.
If planning to enroll in a 4-year degree program, why not take your first few classes at Lake Land? You’ll receive a great education at a fraction of the cost of tuition at a university level!
