Manufacturing Skills I (NDP.MSP)

Learn how to become a mechanic in the Manufacturing Skills Technology program! This short-term certificate prepares you for a variety of entry level manufacturing positions. In class you will focus on measurement, hydraulics, pneumatics, electric motors, mechanical and electrical drives and basic blueprint reading skills.

As a Manufacturing Skills graduate, you will have the opportunity to work at a wide variety of facilities. As a hired mechanic, you can provide general maintenance and repairs to industrial equipment.

According to the national Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for general manufacturing, maintenance and repair workers is projected to grow by 6 percent through 2024. Source: bls.gov

Hands On Experience

As a student at Lake Land College, you will gain hands-on training and refine your skills in campus labs filled with industry-standard equipment. You will train in the following areas:

• Industrial blueprint reading and basic drafting procedures
• Basic technology science, such as: properties of matter, speed and acceleration, mechanics, and electricity with an emphasis on automotive applications
• Drafting skills and concepts
• Manufacturing measurement and measurement techniques
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Fluid power, mechanical drive systems and electrical motor control
