Lake Land College students have a variety of options for earning scholarships to assist with paying for college.
Each year, the Lake Land College Foundation awards students more than $600,000 worth of scholarships in a range of amounts up to $5,000.
Applications should be completed annually as scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year will be accepted from November 1, 2023-February 1, 2024 and from August 1-August 31, 2024.
Lake Land College Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students based on a wide range of criteria. Only one application is required to be considered for all Foundation Scholarships.

The Rural King Annual Scholarship is available for full-time and part-time students who are active Rural King employees or dependents of an employee with financial need. Priority will be placed on students that live or work in a Rural King County, and demonstrate alignment with Rural King’s core values through community involvement. This new scholarship opportunity was created as a new partnership between Rural King and Lake Land College to support the continued growth and development of Rural King associates and their dependents through providing access to post-secondary educational opportunities.
Note: The application is available from November 1- February 1, and again August 1-31.
Lake Land College is pleased to guarantee a Presidential Scholarship to all eligible in-district high school graduates who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition for up to two years.

The Lake Land College Pathways and GED Programs are eligible to award the Presidential Scholarship to two in-district students from each program who plan to attend Lake Land College the following fall semester. Each student must meet all of the following requirements:
Pathways students using the GED pretest score for qualification must successfully complete the GED test prior to enrollment.
Lake Land College athletic coaches award scholarships to talented athletes who in their judgment have the outstanding ability to compete on their respective NJCAA team.

Many community organizations, banks, credit unions, clubs, fraternal orders, businesses and employers sponsor a variety of private scholarships. Students are encouraged to contact these organizations about scholarship opportunities. High school guidance offices are also an excellent resource for scholarship listings, searches and assistance. Many private scholarships are awarded well before the fall semester begins, so students should start the search and application process early and pay close attention to deadlines.
Thank you for your interest in the Carolyn M. O’Connor Education Fund scholarship which celebrates the life of Carolyn Morris O’Connor. Carolyn was the consummate professional. She attained her Certificate of Merit early in her career and then later also became a Certified Realtime Reporter.
Carolyn loved the court reporting profession, and she was highly respected by clients and colleagues alike. This scholarship fund was set up to honor her memory and the great contributions she made to the field of court reporting.
This scholarship is not restricted to Virginia-only students.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
Any stenotype or voice writing student currently engaged in the study of court reporting, either in a traditional school setting or an online program, and who have completed at least one semester of schooling. This scholarship is not restricted to Virginia students.
Applicants must have passed at least one of the court reporting program’s tests at a minimum of 160 words per minute.
An individual may apply for the scholarship each year, so long as they meet the requirements; however, an individual may only be awarded the Carolyn O’Connor Education Fund scholarship one time.
HOW TO APPLY:
The deadline for receipt of the application in its entirety is JANUARY 31st of each respective year.
There are two different forms which must be completed. Both forms must be received by the deadline of January 31st to be eligible.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to see that all forms are submitted to the COEF Committee at admin@vcrf.net, by January 31st.

The Charleston Rotary Club Scholarship for Charleston High School Seniors and Lake Land College students recognizes a student who exemplifies service beyond self and has been accepted to enroll in Eastern Illinois University in the upcoming academic year. Students eligible to apply for the scholarship are Charleston High School seniors and Lake Land College students who have graduated from Charleston High School.
Citizenship and Service: The recipient must exemplify the Rotary motto “Service Above Self’ through involvement in school and community activities that benefit others. Service Above Self conveys the humanitarian spirit of Rotary’s 1.2 million members. Fellowship and meaningful community and international service projects characterize Rotary Worldwide.
Integrity and Dependability: The recipient must consistently demonstrate qualities of honesty, fairness, and responsibility.
Academic Achievement: The recipient must have a C or better cumulative GPA at the time of application- for Charleston High School seniors, a 3.0 or better GPA (based on 1 to 5 scale) and for Lake Land College applicants, a 2.0 or better GPA (based on a 1 to 4 scale)
Education: The nominee must have gained and accepted admission to Eastern Illinois University.
Application process: Charleston High School seniors will apply by submitting application materials directly to the Charleston High School Guidance Office. All application materials are due by March 27, 2025.

Scholarship selection will be made by a committee of the Charleston Rotary Club. The scholarship award is a one-time payment of $1000, payable to the recipient after confirmation of 10th Day enrollment status in the upcoming fall semester.
